October 28th, one of 60 dates in Pierce The Veil's "I Can't Hear You" World Tour 2025, stopped at the CCNB Amphitheater in Simpsonville, SC. As someone who has been closely following PTV & their rise since original Warped Tour days, Their rise from an extremely good support band to an arena/amphitheater World Tour headliner has been really cool to see. I can't help but feeling like this rise felt different than any of their contemporary peer's, or really any band I can think of. Its often a band will transition into legacy acts, but most people can see it coming, this one just kinda felt weird, and i'll explain why in their section. First, the support acts:
Like Roses I did not get to catch due to parking and timing issues, though I was able to hear a good portion of their set and it sounded good. I dived into their discography on the drive home and they are a super sick band, definitely check them out. Unfortunately no photos or deep dive for this one. Hope to catch a full set at a later date.
Ecca Vandal
Known for her electrifying stage presence and genre-blending sound, Ecca Vandal's concerts are a celebration of energy, individuality, and raw talent. The lights in that MF were craaaazy. I liked the music, but im not sure it really "fit the bill" crowd energy wise. Didn't ruin the vibe or anything, but i can just think of a million bands that would, no discredit to them its just how genres and show energy works. They put on a good show.
HEALTH
Coming into the night I've always seen this band and kinda weird(in a good way) and mysterious. IK that sounds dumb but after some digging apparently, thats the point.
They have songs with everyone from Rock legends NIN to hyperpop champions 100 Gecs to pop group The Neighbourhood. Currently at 1.6 Mil monthly Spotify Listeners, and with all their cosigns, I'm not surprised they got the placement. As they share the stage with such a prominent act, it’s would usually be chance for them to showcase their unique sound to a larger crowd, but the crowd they already have algorithmically, which only continues to grow, this isn't that like it usually is. They fit the energy of the show and even though they are not the same exact genre as PTV, it definitely made sense & felt right.
Pierce The Veil
Unfortunately, the same security I saw and spoke with all night didn't know what a photo pit was 5 minutes before PTV started, and denied me access to shoot from the barricade; I couldn't justify taking thousands of dollars of equipment into a mosh pit, so I was forced to shoot from a very long distance away. Anyways, back to the PTV rise and how they went from "another Rise Records Era type band" to a 10M Monthly Spotify listeners, Arena/amphitheater level legacy band. Will some people attribute it to their songs starting to trend on TikTok recently, but thats not why they've had the success they've had, thats what makes it feel weird. Hear me out, the generation of people that grew up during this band's ride are not the same generation as the new kids discovering them on Tiktok. Neither is greater than the other, but they are undeniably different. We're used to PTV being a subproduct of many bands that were successful back then but not this level of success and a huge variable in that is the record labels who these bands were signed to. Now that years have passed and social platforms have not only given new bands platforms while allowing them to remain independent, but have also given seasoned bands an ability to "revive" their fading career's with an old song going viral & capitalize off that. But PTV wasn't in that situation. Their last album was a testament to the fact that they are at the height of their career's and that coupled with the fact they have had an ability to gain younger fans with their online popularity, i think its because its the first band thats always been good, and always been big(to a certain level) that watching the transition into a legacy band, & it being the first time I see it happening this way, is why I say it "feels weird." Or maybe I should say "new, unfamiliar." Regardless, they absolutely killed the show, per usual. Make sure to catch a date of the tour & read everything official HERE.
