Origami Angel is kicking off their summer tour this weekend, and Columbia is lucky enough to be the very first stop. They’re hitting The Senate on Sunday, June 8, with support from Chase Petra, Saturdays At Your Place, and Combat. If you’ve ever seen Origami Angel live, you know exactly what kind of guitar noodling chaos this show is about to be.

I first caught them a few years back in Atlanta when they were opening for The Wonder Years on their double-album anniversary tour. The venue was Heaven at The Masquerade, and despite being the openers, Origami Angel came out swinging and absolutely owned their time on stage. I remember hearing their music before this show but being wildly impressed that it was 2 people playing everything I was hearing. The fact dude can play guitar and sing that well at the same time, its wild to see live.

Fast forward to May 2023, they rolled through Columbia and played New Brookland Tavern on a spring run with Pinkshift and Sweet Pill; a stacked lineup for such a small room, especially at that OG New Brookland Tavern location(IYKYK). That show was packed wall to wall & loud as a MF, and if you were there, you probably remember how hard Origami Angel went despite the tight stage and basic setup. It was one of those sets where you knew immediately they were going to be headlining their own tours soon enough.

This time around, they’re back(not as support, not in a divey club) but headlining The Senate with a full production and a ton of new material. Their latest record "Feeling Not Found" is a wild mix of nostalgic riffs, emotional depth, and straight-up bangers. And with Chase Petra stepping in as direct support (yep, the same band that came through New Brookland with Pool Kids a while back), this lineup hits from top to bottom. If you are anywhere around the Carolinas, you do NOT want to miss this show.
